Teach Me About Forever and Ever

“The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.” — Deuteronomy 33:27

“Forever and ever.” Those words roll off my tongue so easily, yet they expand beyond the reach of my imagination. Our lives are measured in minutes, days, and years. We know beginnings and endings—of meetings, of events, of seasons. But when God speaks of forever and ever, He calls us into a mindset without clocks or calendars—a life held in His eternal presence.

It’s no wonder the psalmist cried out, “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12). If my days are short, then I must look to the One who holds eternity. If my strength fades, I must lean into the everlasting arms.

“Forever and ever” is not just about length—it is about depth. It is about the quality of God’s unchanging, unwavering love, His unbreakable promises, His unshakable kingdom—beyond the boundaries of time constraints. While everything in this world shifts, fades, and eventually dies, God remains timeless. His mercy is new each morning, His faithfulness stretches beyond the horizon, and His grace carries me past my flaws and failures into His forever.

When I whisper, “Teach me about forever and ever,” I am asking God to adjust my vision. To lift my eyes above temporary discouragements and frustrations, seasons of pain, and fleeting victories. To root my heart in what cannot be stolen—His love, His Word, His presence.

So, consider this:

  • Shift Perspective:
When trials feel endless, remember they are temporary. But God’s promise is eternal.
  • Choose Longterm Investment:
Sow into what lasts forever—faith, hope, love.
  • Live with Hope:
Even in grief or loss, forever with Christ is not a wishful thought but a certain promise.

Prayer:
Father… Teach me about forever and ever. My days are numbered, but Yours are not. Teach me to see past the ticking of the clock and the turning of the seasons. Teach me to anchor myself in Your eternal truth. May my life today reflect the reality of forever—that in Christ I am held, I am loved, and I am secure, now and always. In the name of the One who not only knew about forever and ever but lived it… Amen.
