Honey in the Rock

Sometimes God’s sweetest provision shows up in the hardest places.

Not in the easy, soft soil. Not in the lush, green fields. But in the rock.

In the places you thought nothing good could or would ever come from.

That’s what the psalmist meant when he wrote:

“With honey from the rock I would satisfy you.” —Psalm 81:16

Honey is sweetness. Nourishment. Delight. And yet—where is it found? Not where you’d expect.

God brings honey from a rock—hope out of despair, strength out of weakness, joy out of grief. You know… the hard places.

The rock represents the hard things in life—the seasons that feel barren, unyielding, immovable. But here’s the truth: God doesn’t need an easy place to bless you. He can bring sweetness from the very place that seems impossible.

Think about it:

   •   A relationship that feels hard as stone—yet God can bring reconciliation.

   •   A health battle that weighs heavy—yet God can bring resilience and peace.

   •   A dry season in faith—yet God can stir fresh vision and joy.

The miracle isn’t just in the honey. It’s in the where—from the rock.

It’s no wonder this ancient image has carried into modern worship—like in the song “Honey in the Rock” by Brooke Ligertwood and Brandon Lake. Their spiritual ballad echoes the same truth: God’s provision flows from the most unlikely places, and His presence satisfies every need.

So if you’re staring at a “rock” today—something heavy, hard, or impossible—don’t give up. That may be the very place God intends to show you His sweetest provision.

Prayer:

Lord… You are the God who brings honey from the rock. Today, I bring You the hard places in my life—the immovable, the barren, the impossible. Surprise me with Your sweetness there. Feed me with Your presence. Satisfy me with Your goodness. Let me taste and see that You are good… even in the rock. In the name of the One who brought the sweet honey of salvation from the rock of the tomb… Amen.

Yes and Amen! Honey 🍯 is starting to flow from one of the biggest ROCKS 🪨 of my life that I’ve ever encountered. I never doubted God’s goodness. I questioned his timing, never doubted HIS GOODNESS!
